K4L attends Australian Volunteers workshop in SA

Kick4Life’s Community Programmes Director, ‘Makatleho ‘Puky’ Pitso and Human Resources Director, ‘Mamabusetsa Rose ‘Mabathoana attended a 2-day Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Partner Workshop organised by the Australian Volunteers Program on the 20th and 21st June 2024 in Rosebank, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The workshop was attended by various community-focused organisations from across Southern Africa, with K4L having been supported previously by the Australian Volunteers Program with both volunteer placements and funding for our sports-based programmes.

Each organisation displayed photos and information on a gallery to present their work, with opportunities to share stories of programming and impact related to GEDSI and GBV. For Kick4Life this included our work, with both young women and young men, using football to promote gender rights, to develop transferable skills, to deliver sexual and reproductive health education and to challenge gender discrimination, hate and violence.

Rose noted that it was an excellent opportunity to connect and share with other projects in the region and to learn about other approaches, with particular insight gained related to engagement of young people with disabilities.
