Nkoto Masoabi ended his goal drought with a brace as he inspired Kick4Life to victory against the bottom placed Sky Battalion in the Econet Premier League on Saturday afternoon at PTC grounds.
Masoabi scored two excellent first half goals, first a stunning header in the 29th minute, before doubling his tally in the 38th minute.
The win takes Kick4Life to 19 points after 13 matches and gives them a chance to compete for a Top 4 place.
The Old Europa side showed early intentions of winning the match as Ralekoti Mokhahlane released a rocket shot outside the box and deflected into the net in the 16th minute. The goal was however disallowed by the referee.
3 minutes later, Masoabi and Tsepang Ntsenyane forced Thabelo Makoboshane to make two good saves, first denying Masoabi’s shot before he could also make another excellent save to clear Ntsenyane’s follow up efforts.
However, it did not stop Kick4Life from getting a goal as in the 29th minute, Masoabi jumped above the defence to give the visitors the lead with a beautiful header. 6 minutes later, he almost doubled his efforts when his free header passed the goals slightly.
Masoabi, who seemed to be having a good game on the day, gave his opponents a run for their money. In the 38th minute, the Lesotho international hitman produced something rare when he made a beautiful quick turn in the box and placed the ball at the far post, Makoboshane well beaten.
Kick4Life went into the break leading and looked determined to continue from where they left in the second half. Motlalepula Chabeli was unfortunate to miss a header after Bokang Mothoana curled his freekick to him in the 52nd minute. A minute later, Sky Battalion’s Tsemane fired wide at the keeper.
Then in the 64th minute, Kick4Life were nearly made to pay for their poor communication at the back when the ball dropped out of Sele Thetsane’s gloves but Likano cleared the danger.
With 16 minutes to go, Thetsane was called into action, this time having to outstretch his hand to stop Masao’s set piece from going into the net.
After being unveiled as new Kick4Life players, Rasetabele Kalosane and Norman Kumatse made their debut, coming on in the second half. Without taking anything away from the players, youngster, Mokoteli Mohapi was outstanding in the middle of the park, both in offensive and defensive duties.
