Kick4Life missed out on the chance to compete in the next season’s top4 when they went 2-1 down to Liphakoe in the Econet Premier League on Sunday afternoon in a match played at LCS grounds.
Leslie Notsi’s side were looking to secure maximum points and stay in the race, but it was not the day. Furthermore, this was their first ever loss to Liphakoe in the league.
Although Kick4Life created many goal scoring opportunities early in the game, they missed out. Thahane Mokhehle slipped and fell, and Mokoteli Mohapi won the ball and found Nkoto Masoabi who shot wide in the 3rdminute.
Rasetabele Kalosane thought he had given the home team the lead in the 6thminute but his goal was disallowed as the assistant referee flagged him. Liphakoe took the lead in the 23rdminute from the corner kick, Tsepang Makapa beating Mohau Kuenane with a bicycle kick.
Kick4Life were then awarded freekick on the edge of the 18 yard box but Bonang Mohapi’s shot was cleared by the wall in the 28thminute. With four minutes before the break, Moruti Thamahane was presented with an opportunity in the box but he rifled high at goals.
In the second half, Notsi made a tactical change, taking off Tseliso Ramafikeng and bringing in Khubetsoana Kamela and an opportunity fell in his path in the 53rdminute but he missed the target.
Then things went from bad to worse in the hour mark when Relebohile Moloinyane doubled the lead for Liphakoe with a tap in. Norman Kumatse was then called to replace Mohapi-B who was rushed to the hospital after sustaining a head injury in the 71stminute.
Masoabi who was kept on a close watch by Basia Letuka and Tlotliso Tumahole managed to sneak out at goals but missed a glorious chance when his efforts went above the bar in the 77thminute. However, Kumatse managed to pull a consolation goal for Kick4Life with a powerful strike in the 85thminute.
